Meet Me Down South | Southern African Music Round Up Week 3

 Hey Friend,

Okay, we seem to be getting consistent now. What a win, hey, and on top of that, this is actually a little bit of a moment for me to check out what's trending and revive a few artists that have been slept on. Another crazy thing is this website is all about discovering and yoh, I tell you now, I've found some artists that I should have known about before. Looks like there could be growing competition here on what music will be constantly replayed on my playlist.

Welcome to week 3 of Meet Me Down South.

LISTEN UP RIGHT NOW

Amazing that right here right now, you get to show off to your friends that you have a wide range of songs from all over Southern Africa. Todays top five doesn't stick to just one country, so let's just say the biased side of me has taken a break.

DARREL ~ REVA (REMIX) FT GARRY MAPANZURE

PELA NEGRA ~ C4 PEDRO

S-ROXXY ~ MONEY

NGIYESABA ~ CHARACTER FT Q TWINS AND NTENCANE

SALLY BOSS MADAM ~ CENTRE FT DON KAMATI

SHOCKER OF THE WEEK

PLIGHT ~ YOU FT DAEV AND YO MAPS

GOING BACK

TKZEE ~ SHIBOBO

You can have fun with this song, and I mean it. It wakes you up, even if you're already 3 hours into your day. Let's just day you'll get your daily dose of caffeine.

MUSIC VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Skhandaworld song Cold Summer featuring K.O, Roii, Loki and Kwesta is a vibe for sure. The video borders on simple but the reason why I say watch it is that I'm sure you'll be doing the same activities as the artists. Upside down house, trippy but gives content for your Instagram page or digital online album (Facebook users that's you). Maybe also doing on a drive sunset drive with your crew (following lockdown rules thought) in a drop-top car. The last idea, even pretending you're having a music video filmed right in your room (keep it PG please). The bases of this music video are, it makes you want to find a motive and trust me I know most of you are aching for this.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK

Q Twins have released their first official album and we have to applaud them. They've jelled into the music industry well and gives us hope they will remain consistent in the game.
I've been replaying a few songs from their album and I think you will definitely find yourself doing the same. AmaGifts, Show Me featuring the Jaziel Brothers and Laba Abantu. Although to showcase the first song with their music video that I ever listened to, here's Hamba featuring DJ Tira.

ARTIST TO LOOK OUT FOR

Now sadly artist Daev (David Phiri) lost his life but the good thing about African culture it's common to celebrate the life the person has lived. As thousands gathered this week to mourn his death, it was prominent that people had supported his music hustle.

The rising Zambian star has now officially entered my playlist and gives me joy that as a country there's a lot it has to offer. To add his collaborated in the past with Patoranking and has an album called Moonlight. Go check it out.

So yes, one way to do this is to appreciate the music that an artist has worked on and blessed us with to hear. Music is something to make us feel good, catch a feeling and say thank you.

That's the round-up this week. Let me know if any of these tunes have been playing lately in your ears as much as they have to me.

I'm really diving into the deep down South and noticing most of the music being put out has some linkage to Gospel music. This is something you'll see in next weeks write up, so look out for that.
