Meet Me Down South | Southern African Music Round Up Week 2

Hey Friend.

There's been a number of announcements recently, and I'm talking baby announcements. Is that a sign maybe for some of us? Ahaha, don't worry no pressure. For this newbie father, the wait is now over phew that pressure is gone and we also get something from this. An album to listen to. Take any hints who I'm talking about? Find out in this post Meet Me Down South with some exceptions.

LISTEN UP RIGHT NOW

Besides being in total lockdown with artists from around the World, I'm talking Aya Nakamura, Pop Smoke, Summer Walker and an up and coming artist, that I will mention in the future, I couldn't go without listening to a few tracks that you should know about this week.

DONEL WISH YOU WELL

Okay, this one is a must, technically speaking if you're in the northern hemisphere, then to add this artist on the list is fine. I just needed to let you know about him.

MYRA

Again, another artist I just have to slide through. If you want to know what else to listen to, check her out on Colors.

TAMY MOYO KUTEERA FT JAH PRAYZAH

ISHAN MAIDEI (PEANUT BUTTER)

JAH MASTER HELLO MWARI

SHOCKER OF THE WEEK

I'm wondering now if I really like or maybe love it when a song thas some dialogue. Witnessing it in the flesh, I loved it, but I think for me it's when the dialogue really fits in well with the song. Take for instance Brenda Fassie's song Nomakanjani, the lady that speaks in the song, add another layer to it.

I've discovered someone else who does exactly that. Thanks to Busiswa, the Xhosa queen known for her poems has also made her appearance in a few songs. An example I'm going to leave you with is As'phelelanga by Vusi Nova featuring Jessica Mbanjeni.

She in my opinion is amazing and so bright and colorful, certainly someone you can learn a thing or two from.

GOING BACK

Sister Bethina. Let me just bring this song back to the platform. I'm sure most of your aunties and uncles have heard of this song. In actual fact, this song, in particular, did not sit as a PG song but because of the catchiness of it, it still waved its way as a song to enjoy bobbing the head too and doing a few one-two steps after school with friends. Let's see if you'll catch on the vibe too.

ALBUM OF THE WEEK

Caspper Nyovest with A.M.N.

Yes, I mentioned him last week and if you didn't know already, he made a big announcement this recently.

He's a father that can now officially hold his baby. I'm telling you, I'm pretty sure he was losing his patience for the day to finally happen. Hence the title of his newest album 'A.M.N (Any Moment Now). I've heard the album a few times this week and have been sinking into it quite well. What do you think?

Let's celebrate with him.

ARTIST TO LOOK OUT FOR:

Takura has just released his EP, Star Signs and yes this could fit in Album of the week, but allegedly named as the 'Shona Prince', his an artist to look out for this right now and right this week. With a music video released recently, 'It's Okay Not To Be Okay' his slowly coming back into the grind of releasing content for us. His EP cover also does it for me, fitting into that chill mood and that's what we need for 2020. Chillax and just accept this year has been a trying year for us. Watch out for Takura 'baby'.

Next week will be a little surprising as I've been really trying to immerse myself with music from the countries that aren't landlocked. I can tell you now, I'm loving one of the countries music and can not wait to share with you.

That's the round-up this week. Let me know if any of these tunes have been playing lately in your ears as much as they have to me.
